999 Open Studio

999 Open Studio gathers two open-studio showings held at Segard’s Studio 999 across the turn of 2022–2023, opening the working space to visitors while the drawings were still in progress. The walls carry a run of recent charcoals — Cabin III, Siolim, Barakhamba Road, Eastern Avenue, Gignac — architectural and landscape forms built up in dense, forceful mark-making and hung close together as a single field. Shown in the studio rather than the gallery, the works stay tied to the conditions that made them: the drawing table, the accumulated dust of charcoal, the light of the room. The open studio reads less as an exhibition than as a section cut through an ongoing body of work.
