Gut City Punch

An ongoing body of works on paper drawn from the undersides of Delhi’s flyovers — Rajghat, Nizamuddin, Mahipalpur, Najafgarh. Each drawing is started at site, from a detail in the surrounding landscape, and grows over the days by juxtaposition — discarded materials collected at the site or in its surroundings worked into the sheet alongside charcoal and pastel, so the raw infrastructure of the expanding city becomes a shadowed architecture of its own. Made over several years as the road network kept spreading, the series treats these overlooked in-between spaces — the dead ground beneath the traffic — as the real interior of the metropolis.
