Les villes invisibles — watercolours of the stilt house

Pilotis, 2016 — watercolour and paper collage

Les villes invisibles — a series of watercolours and paper collage built around the stilt house, the dwelling raised on pilotis above a flooding or forested ground. Slender legs of ink and washed colour multiply across the sheet until the houses read as a thicket, a settlement dissolving back into the trees. Borrowing its title from Calvino’s Invisible Cities, the work imagines architecture as a fragile, provisional forest — cities that stand only for as long as the water lets them.
